Jumping and splashing, running and dashing

My name is Meenakshi Dwivedi and I live in the North West of England. I would like to submit a poem for this Competition.
I am a Doctor by profession and love my job! I’m a Mum to two wonderful kids and have a beautiful Golden Retriever, Sandy, who keeps me busy. I only recently started writing poems. I feel writing poetry helps me relax and de-stress. Just wish I had discovered it sooner! My poem is called “The Rain” and was inspired by the spell of constant rain we had in the beginning on August.
Thank you Meenakshi for your decision to share your poem with us!
The Rain
—————————
Spitting….drizzling….
pouring……lashing…
look at the rain,
on my window pane.
Raincoats and wellies ,
Don’t forget your brollies!
Jumping and splashing,
running and dashing.
“Come indoors” Mum’s voice boomed.
“Hurry up” I said “or else we’ll be doomed”!
Soaked….drenched…
numb and wet through.
Oh what a day,
when you’ve played out in the rain.
Warm bath….clean clothes….
hot drink ….kiss on the nose.
Mum’s sorted us out,
after our rainy walk about
Thanks & kind regards –
Meenakshi Dwivedi
