We are more than our footprints

Century Twenty One
We are more than our footprints,
kneaded down in
familiar sands.
We are not the trails we have
followed.
We are not the road signs
we’ve missed.
We are personalities
floating inside a
universe
where big hands
stand still.
We stop and we stare,
waiting to smash
the hard drives
of computerised
sat navs and
the lines on old-fashioned road maps.
